Home Education & Unschooling
Active Free Play in the woods.
Lymley Wood offers the space and opportunity for all sorts of effective and stimulating outdoor learning. We run home education / unschooled specific forest school sessions and also Active Free Play mornings.
Active Free Play provides the opportunity for children to socialise, parents to network and promotes the children’s healthy physical development. Pre-schoolers and primary children ideally should have 3 – 5 hours per day of free active play. Outdoor environments are the perfect place for this as nature provides all the sensory stimulation they need and using the adventure equipment helps strengthen muscle and bones, develop stamina and gets children thinking, imagining, moving and creating using both their mind and bodies in ways that play under adults direction will never match!
Coffee and cake will be served from the woodland kitchen, chill out space for kids and parents, mud kitchen and circus skills equipment all available to be used as part of the session.
Home Ed parents can get together and book specific dates for their personal use or keep an eye on FB for drop in Active Free Play sessions.
N.B. Active Free Play means that these are un-planned, un-structured, unsupervised sessions. Parents will be required to nominate an adult who will need to be present in the adventure playground to act as ‘spotter’ when children are using equipment.
